Located in the heart of Philadelphia’s vibrant Center City, Dizengoff is a standout Israeli restaurant that masterfully captures the essence of traditional Middle Eastern flavors with a modern, approachable twist. At Dizengoff, each dish is a celebration of fresh, high-quality ingredients and bold, aromatic spices that transport you instantly to the bustling markets and cozy kitchens of Israel.
The restaurant offers an inviting and lively atmosphere that perfectly balances casual comfort with a refined dining experience — ideal for everything from laid-back lunches to memorable celebrations. Diners rave about the engaging and attentive service, with staff who are genuinely passionate about the menu and eager to guide you through the culinary journey.
Dizengoff’s menu is a treasure trove of beloved Israeli classics and inventive specialties. The hummus stands out as an absolute must-try, especially the “Hummus by the Pint,” which guests can savor in multiple variations, including the luxurious Brown Butter Hummus that delivers a rich, nutty depth. Pair it with warm, fresh pita bread—though some diners have noted it occasionally arrives less warm than expected, it still perfectly complements the creamy dips and preserves the authentic flavors.
For entrees, the Shakshuka offers a vibrant, comforting dish brimming with spicy tomato sauce and perfectly poached eggs, while the Shawarma-Spiced Lamb Platter and tender Lamb Neck provide deeply satisfying, slow-cooked richness seasoned with fragrant spices. The Chicken Schnitzel is another highlight, featuring a crisp, golden crust and juicy meat that leaves diners craving more.
The platters are thoughtfully composed to deliver both variety and balance: from the Sabich Platter’s combination of fried eggplant, savory haminado egg, and tangy sumac onions to the Lamb Kofte Platter, which features beautifully seasoned meat served alongside a fresh chopped salad and silky tehina on rice pilaf. Vegetarians and salad lovers will appreciate colorful, vibrant options like the Apple & Radicchio Salad with toasted pumpkin seeds and maple vinaigrette or the fresh Greek Salad bursting with feta and pepperoncini.
Dizengoff also doesn’t shy away from playful, memorable desserts such as the Tahini Ice Cream Sandwich and Frozen Hibiscus Lemonana, which provide refreshing sweetness with a delightful Middle Eastern flair. Small touches like extra sauces—extra tehina, harissa, schug—allow guests to customize their experience to suit every spice preference.
Visitors consistently share how the combination of skillfully prepared food, passionate service, and warm ambiance creates an unforgettable dining experience. Whether you’re celebrating a special day or simply indulging in a flavorful lunch, Dizengoff delivers authenticity and culinary craftsmanship that lingers long after the last bite.
Came here for a birthday lunch - food was delicious - had the chicken schnitzel which I highly recommend and the hummus and pita and pickles. Only downsides: the pita was not warm at all which I found odd, but everything was delicious regardless of this one minor thing. Super high quality of ingredients and extremely memorable experience. Service was great and attentive but be warned, GET RESERVATIONS! Super popular, this is not a pop in and hope for the best kind of place.
i have been to laserwolf in bk and had an amazing meal so was so excited when i found this was also from the same chef. the food was delicious and comforting. if we had an endless stomach, we would have ordered the whole menu. menu highlights: hummus tehina (try it with the fries and its the perfect bite), fries (obvi), lamb kofte (cooked perfectly and juicy), and coconut malabi (loved it).
We were visiting from out of town and made a reservation at Dizengoff to celebrate a special day together. From the moment we walked in we felt taken care of. David made sure we had a great table, and Valentina was wonderful. This was the best hummus we’ve ever had. French fries had the perfect crunchiness. Entrees were very plentiful. Highly recommend this restaurant!
We started with the hummus sampler, served with warm pita — flavorful and delicious. I had the lamb neck for my entrée; it was tender and tasty. The fennel side had a unique, slightly acquired flavor — not my favorite but not bad either. My friend’s za’atar chicken looked and tasted great. Service was friendly and attentive, and overall it was a very good dining experience.
Incredible restaurant! The server was very passionate about the food and made great recommendations. All of the hummus’ were fantastic but special shout out to the cooked Turkish hummus with garlic oil! The chicken was cooked to perfection with a perfect crunchy schnitzel crust! The date cookie was good but was a bit drier than I was expecting. Will definitely be returning
Let me start by saying the service was impeccable. The staff was very knowledgeable about Israeli cuisine and extremely attentive. The hummus was good and the pita was tasty. I wasn’t crazy about the dishes I ordered, though. We ordered the chicken schnitzel and the lamb dishes. That said, we may have just chosen the wrong items. Overall, it’s a good restaurant to try in Philly.
Lovely food. Hummus spread variety was pretty unique with some really bold flavors. Pita of course was the soft, warm, and chewy. For mains, the chicken thighs was garlicky, juicy, bright, and flavorful. Chicken a chnitzel was crispy and moist. Everything was fairly basic but didn’t try to be anything over the top. A bit pricey but a porthole experience to come back for.
